The sky was darkening and soon the bar would be flooded with the usual people. It often got boring. They were the same people he saw on a daily basis. No one new rarely came in. Despite his displeasure with the norm, he acted cheery and friendly to these people. Without him he'd have no business and no money. He wiped off the tables with a clean rag, taking pride in his bar. The lights were dim, adding an almost mysterious atmosphere. Once people got intoxicated they couldn't handle the bright lights. It gave them headaches, so Ezekiel decided to do them a favor.
He unlocked the door a few minutes early before sitting down at the bar and treating himself to a small glass of beer. The taste was so bitter, but his taste buds craved it. Once the beverage was gone he cleared the glass from the tabletop and wiped it down with a rag. He put the glass in a tub where the rest of the dirty glasses would go before clean up at the end of the night. Running a bar was almost too easy. The only difficult part was putting up with the drunks who were too intoxicated to be civil about anything. A fight or two would break out every so often, but other than that it was rather peaceful. The fights entertained Ezekiel. He loved watching them, and often pretended not to notice so he could get some entertainment before being forced to split it up.
He was just that cruel. The young man stood behind the counter, a dry rag in his hand as he cleared water droplets off the beer mugs. It was too quiet. Thankfully Ezekiel played music inside his head so there was never really silence. If he didn't have that habit he would never survive being alone in a quiet room. Being in the bar had made him accustomed to chitter-chatter. He didn't know what he would do without it. [/style] |

Elissa hummed, walking down the streets of Waffle Island, sometimes leaping. 'Alright then... it's been such a long time since I was last here... hasn't changed much, though!' Elissa thought happily to herself, skipping. A weird noise then, suddenly, emerged from her stomach. It felt, and sounded like a gurgle. Elissa then looked down and laid her right hand over her stomach. 'Hm... I should go eat somewhere~ But where?' Elissa then looked over her shoulder and saw a building she doesn't recognize. 'Must be new... looks like a restraunt too. Yippee!' Elissa jumped up in the air, her joy easily being expressed. She then started running quickly back towards the 'restraunt'.
"HELLO EVERYBODY! Wonderful day we're having, huh?" Elissa yelled, as she opened the door, as she made her presence known. Instead of people waving back at her and saying 'hello' she got... silence and stares in return. It was quite weird, and awkward. The only ones that were still noisy were two men, drunk by the looks of it, fighting. 'What the? How rude! Fighting during such a special ritual!' Elissa's cheeks puffed up, and she went towards the two grown men, who were punching each other. "HEY, YOU TWO! HOW DARE YOU FIGHT WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ARE EATING!" She stood tall, and used her index finger to point at them.

The door flung open as a pink-haired girl barged into the bar, screaming out to everyone. Ezekiel stared at her for a while before a sly smile came to his lips. She then began barking at the two guys fighting. Much to his surprise they stopped. He liked a girl with some authority. She was quite cute. He filled up a glass of beer and slid it down the bar to the people who were begging for one. His eyes slid back up to the new face. Ezekiel hadn't even seen her around Waffle Island, so he figured she must be new around here or maybe she had been taking a vacation.
He held up his finger, showing the bar goers that he'd be right back. His long legs carried him over to the young girl, his eyes looking her up and down. Ezekiel chewed on his lower lip, a smirk sliding upon his mouth. "What's a pretty little girl like yourself doing in a bar?" He purred. A claw-like hand reaching for his hair, tucking the jet black strands behind his ear. He just now realized how much height he had on her. This brought an even bigger smile to his lips. Ezekiel loved tiny girls. They were so short and petite.
Laughter roared around him. The talking was quite loud, but he was focused deeply on this young girl. Rarely did a woman step foot in his bar. If they did they were sloppy. This little girl didn't seem to be a slob like the other girls. She seemed so interesting. Ezekiel was going to have fun tonight. He wanted to get her drunk. "You want a drink or two? It's on the house." A brow was raised as he smirked down at her, slightly hunched over so he could get a good look at her. [/style] |

The two grown men grew silent and just... looked at her. After around a second or two, they both went back to their respective tables, and the chatter resumed again. 'Hmph! That'll teach those two to not fight in a public premeses!' Elissa felt quite proud of herself. She then noticed a man walking towards her. A man who was probably the most handsome guy she's ever seen.
He had long legs, and jet-black hair. He was wearing a suit that looked like a tuxedo, and there was a white rag slung over one of his shoulders. Elissa felt herself get nervous as he walked towards her, a feat that has never happened since her first time performing on stage all those years ago. She felt her heart beating fast. 'Ah! What should I do~ He's coming up to me! Wait. Stay calm, Elissa! Don't act like an idiot! Everything will be just fine, as usual!'
Elissa looked up at the man, who was much taller than she was. She listened to him speak, his voice calm and smoothe. 'Uwah~ His voice is so suited for singing~ Then came that word. The word 'bar'. "H-huh? Bar?" A clueless look was slowly growing on her face, and then she dashed out to see the 'restraunt's' sign. She then read the words, 'LE BAR'. She then dashed back in again, blushing beat red. 'Ah crap! What do I do? I can't just deny his kind offering... but I'm underaged... wait!' Elissa then said with a smile on her face, "Ah, yes! I'll have a glass of water, please!" 'That should do it. After all he did say 'drink' and not 'alcholic beverage'. Ah, I'm so smart I even surprise myself sometimes.' Elissa smiled.

He watched her dash out to go examine the sign before scurrying back in. Her words disappointed him, but he didn't dare show it. He figured she was underage. What kind of person should he act like today? He figured gentlemanly would be the way to win this young girl's attention. "Then come this way." He cooed with a sly smile. With that he led her back to the bar. He gladly walked behind it, and in front of where he was standing a stool was open just for her.
Angered men were waiting for their drinks, but Ezekiel simply ignored their grumbling. His hands quickly grabbed a cup and filled it with water, dropping some cold ice cubes in it. To add some flavor he slices up a lemon and wedged it on the side. After that he tended to everyone else's demands for alcohol. Oh how he was dying to sit down and have a drink; enjoy some guy time with his fellow alcoholics. The thought surprisingly warmed his heart. Bright eyes landed back on the young woman who had somehow made it into his bar. Another sly smile slithered upon his lips. "I'm Ezekiel. I own this bar." He started. "What might your name be, beautiful?" These words came so easily to him. It was almost a bad thing.
The bartender knew he should behave the way he did, but it was hard not to. It had become who he was. He was afraid of being hurt, so instead he hurt others. The way he treated people was horrible, but he knew that people would quickly treat him the same way if given the chance. It was a dog-eat-dog world, and he didn't want to be a pushover in a world like that. People would chew him up and spit him right back out. That's why he had to play the role of the Big Bad Wolf.

'Ah~ He's so handsome and charming, I think I'm going to faint~ Elissa thought to herself dreamily, following him to the bar table. There were probably invisible hearts floating in her eyes right now. Elissa then delicately sat down on one the seats. 'Oh, this is so exciting~ I can't tell my parents and siblings about this though, or else they'll kill me for ruining the family name~' Her entire family, save for her grandparents, could care more about the family's reputation that Elissa herself.
"Ah, thank you~" Elissa said cheerfully as the handsome man who was revealed to be a bartender handed her her drink. Elissa took the water (which had a lemon on it) and took a sip of it. She felt a taste of sourness from the lemon, and then swallowed. She listened to the bartender speak, and blushed beat red once again when she heard him call her 'beautiful'. She? Beautiful? Well, okay, she did admit that she was beautiful, but to here it come from such a handsome man was just... surprising, to her. She blushed, and answered, "Oh, thank you for the compliment. My name is Elissa Mozerie. It's nice to meet you, Ezekiel." 'Ezekiel. Zekey. How cute!' Elissa giggled to herself.

It was quite pleasurable to watch. Ezekiel listened to her wind chime voice as she introduced herself. A smile came to his lips. It was quite a beautiful name. It suited her well. "The pleasure is all mine, m'lady." The words came from his vocals in a sweet purr. With a smile he grabbed a glass of water for himself, filling the glass up to the brim, adding a lemon for himself as well. He squeezed the lemon, watching the droplets fall into the clear liquid.
With another smile he took a large gulp of his water. The sourness made the water all the more enjoyable. The flavor danced upon his taste buds. He felt the cool liquid travel down his throat and plop into his stomach. It was a nice feeling. The air of the bar was thick. The heat had risen as the talking had increased. The smell of alcohol was thick, too thick. It was begging to be drank, but Ezekiel resisted the urge. He'd down a few cups after hours. "Where are you from? I haven't seen you around here before." He started. "I'm pretty sure I would have noticed a beautiful girl like yourself." What he was saying was true. Her bright pink hair would have been a hard thing to miss for sure.
With an internal sigh he took in another sip of his water. A man came up and demanded another drink in a slurred speech. Ezekiel sighed and shook his head. "I don't think that's a good idea, sir. You seemed to have had too much." The man took his words in the nicest way possible, especially for a drunk man, and left with some incoherent grumbling. His attention then landed back on the young lady, a small smile soon creeping onto his lips.

Elissa watched Ezekiel intently as he poured some water for himself. His wonderful, soft looking, jet-black long hair, his soothing eyes that were shaped like coals, and his glorious long legs that are fit for dancer- she found it all irresistible. She looked as he squeezed the lemon. 'Uwah~ He's just so... graceful and elegant... so gentlemany! Wait, is gentlemany even a word? Pfft! Well who cares! It doesn't make a difference! Either way, he is so dreamy like a prince~' Elissa sighed, with a dreamy look on her face, as daydreams pranced and danced around in her head. She then heard his soft, mellow toned, and soothing voice speak to her.
"Ah, yes, well, you see- I actually am from here, but I work as a singer, and I am, of course, a famous one around the lands surrounding Waffle Island. I often get requests from customers from different countries and towns to sing at local events and stuff." Elissa explained to Ezekiel with a smile on her face. She also finds Waffle Island to be extremely boring, but she didn't mention that part. Elissa then turned her attention towards the man who looked to be in a drunken state. A shiver went down her spine as he left, mumbling quite some inappropriate words. "Uwaah. Drunks really are quite scary." She whispered. Or so she thought.-

Every time she spoke it sounded like wind chimes in his ears. It was a melodious tune that he could get to listening to every day. Every time he looked away he could feel her gaze burning into his skin. It made a smirk some to his lips. He loved getting the attention of the opposite sex. Another sip of the water to quench his dry throat. It was so relieving. The tangy flavor was static on his taste buds once more. His ears caught the chime of her melodic voice. It made sense that she was a singer. Her voice was like velvet, so nice and gentle on his ears. His body leaned up against the bar top, a smile slipped her way.
"Oh wow. That's pretty cool. I'd love to travel." Ezekiel stated with a slight shrug. He would do anything to get off this island for a while. He felt like he didn't belong here, yet he loved it all the same. It was home to him, and he couldn't imagine living somewhere else. Her next set of words made him let out a soft chuckle. He barely caught them over the sound of the laughter and chatter. "They're not too bad once you're around them all the time." She didn't have to worry about them in here. Ezekiel had everything under control, and even though he was a lady-killer, he wouldn't ever let a woman get hurt, especially by a drunk.

"Well, it's nothing special, once you get used to it. Traveling, I mean. Like sure, you get to meet all different types of people, stay in nice hotels and inns- and eat exotic foods-" Elissa drooled and daydreamed at the though of eating all of the exotic foods, but then caught herself. "But, anyway, my point is, it can be extremely exhausting and stressful on the body at times." Elissa finished.
As Elissa was drinking, she realized that while the charming bartender has asked all these questions about her, he hasn't said anything about himself. She put a finger up to her lip, as she thought, 'I think it's time for me to interrogate this mysterious bartender.' She smiled to herself. When she said 'interrogate' she not only meant asking questions, but also to act a little flirtatious herself. "So, Ezekiel, enough about me. Tell me about yourself. You don't seem very familiar, so where are you from?" She twirled her hair around her finger, giving him a fairly flirty smile.

His ears muffled her words as he continued to look her over multiple times. Oh how he'd love to have a night on the town with this gal. Maybe he could ask her out on a date. How unlike Ezekiel to think such a thing. Courting a woman was always the least of his worries. Serious relationships were never of much importance. He barely caught her last sentence, and soon realized that a response might be appreciated. "Sounds like a horrible lifestyle." He teased with a light smirk.
Her words struck him as odd. The chime-like voice held flirtatious poison in it, the act of twirling her hair around her finger hitting him in the gut. No one ever wanted to know anything about him, but the fact that this little cutie did only made his night better. "I don't really remember where I'm from. I got sent here to live with my grandparents at a young age." He explained with a shrug. "I've been here for quite some time. You must have been too busy with your fabulous career to notice someone as small as myself." He teased once more with a chuckle. Ezekiel decided to joke this one off. Anytime before his adulthood was something he tried to erase out of him mind completely. It's not that it was horrible, it just wasn't the highlight of his life.
Dull eyes gazed around the bar. His mind raced, filling up with questions and things to say to her. He debated on whether or not he should actually ask her on a date. Ezekiel chewed on his lower lip before looking back at the young woman. For once he actually felt like he wasn't good enough for someone. This might be a day to be marked on the calendar. His mouth began to feel dry as he became insanely overwhelmed with a sudden nervousness. His hand quickly gripped his cup, putting it to his lips, taking a long and refreshing sip.

Elissa blushed. And it wasn't any old blush that she gives, like when a person compliments her, or the audience cheers for her at a concert. It was an actual, nervous, blush. And all of it was because of this one man, whose teasing expression and tone made her heart race and jump.
"Huh? You don't remember when you moved here? Elissa put her hands over her ears as the crowd of drunks behind her got even more rowdy and crazy. It was getting hard for her to hear, even though Ezekiel was just a few inches away from her. 'Poor Zekey, though... he really doesn't remember what his parents are like... how sad...' Elissa thought worriedly. She then reached over to Ezekiel, and did the unimaginable. She clasped both of her hands over his, and said with a soft, caring, look on her face, "Don't worry. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." Then the noise got louder. And louder. It got so loud, that Elissa lost her patience, and turned her head over, yelling, "WILL YOU GUYS JUST SHUT UP?! I'M TRYING TO HAVE A CONVERSATION, HERE! Ah-" She blushed nervously, scratching her head, "I-I'm sorry." And tried to laugh it off.

The color on her face almost matched her hair, which made him chuckle a bit on the inside. Her question caught him off guard, but she said nothing more. His gaze left her face, looking off in another direction. Her soft hands soon rested on his face. Confused eyes landed back on the pink-haired girl. His face was soon flushed, turning a different shade of pink. Her words chimed in his ears as he closed his eyes, savoring the moment. Oh how he was dying to press his lips against hers. A torrent of butterflies fluttered free in his stomach, causing his stomach to grow upset with the nervousness.
The moment was ruined as she turned and shouted at the group of men. They all stopped talking, staring at her in shock. The young bartender did the same. She turned back at him, apologizing with an embarrassed look upon her face. She sure was an interesting character. He figured this was going to stir up trouble, though. Drunks weren't ones to negotiate. A drunken man staggered up to the two, a nasty look on his flushed face. "Who do you think you are, you witch." The man slurred. The man took another step forward, reaching out for Elissa with a shaky hand. Ezekiel was quick to react, sliding over the counter, quickly closing the space between the man and young woman. "Sir, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave." His usual airy tone was now firm and assertive.
Ezekiel was a flirt, but he wasn't about to stand there and let a woman get hurt, especially by a belligerent drunk. "I can't believe this..." The man grumbled. No one would stand up to the black-haired bartender. He was in charge in this place. The drunken man turned around and staggered out of the building. A cool breeze entered the bar as the door was opened and then closed. The young man turned to face the young lady. "I'm so sorry about that." He apologized, feeling slightly embarrassed about what had just happened. He let out a sigh as he looked around at the guys around him. They all stared at him in awe.
The young man was never one to discipline.

Elissa giggled to herself. Ezekiel was just so darn handsome and cute! She wished she could just go over to the other side of the bar and hug him! But, she couldn't do that, despite nobody paying attention to the two of them. She would just be too embarrassed for words. That, and if by chance one of her siblings or family members walked by the bar, she wouldn't hear the end of it.
She figured that this was the time to ask. That is, until a drunken man started staggering over to her and Ezekiel. 'Uh-oh' Elissa thought to herself. 'I have a bad feeling about this! Man, why am I such an IDIOT?! Fear ran down her spine. She might've acted all proud and haughty when she first entered the bar for the first time, but she was lucky then. Now, not so much. Elissa closed her eyes, awaiting the punches that would come to her... or worse.
And that was when Elissa fell for the bartender of the place even more. It was quick. The bartender swiftly came between the drunk and herself, and told the man to stop. Shockingly, the drunken man muttered something to himself, and left without question. Elissa sighed in relief. "T-thank you Ezekiel... is there anything I can do to repay you? Elissa stood up, looking at him directly into his deep, dark, eyes.

Her words were a song in his ears. As she asked that question he didn't dare think up anything perverted. This was his moment to shine. The thought made his heart race deep within his body cavity. His arms were aching to wrap themselves around her and hold her in a tight hug, but he kept them close to his sides. A slight smile came to his lips as he finally decided to voice his desires. He was so outspoken about everything else, but it was coming down to Elissa, which was a completely different story.
"Well, there is one thing you could do for me." He paused, letting the suspense settle in, as well as allowing himself to get the courage. A light sigh escaped his lips. "I'd like it if you would go on a date with me, miss." His words were surprisingly gentle. The thought of them just meeting flashed through his mind. He quickly looked away for a few seconds before letting his gaze land back on her. "I know we just met and all, but I'd like to get to know you." These were words that would never be expected to come past his lips. The young bartender didn't want to come off as a creep.
He looked away from her again, feeling the anxiety settle in. "I mean, if you don't want to..." Self-consciousness was beginning to set in along with the wave of anxiety. The thought of being rejected killed him inside. That's usually why he flirt with every girl instead of actually getting anywhere with them. Commitment was another key factor. Being tied down to one woman seemed like a very scary thought.
